Hey... its a sportsboard... and I don't see why you cant have a lil fun on here once in a while. My comment was sports related and to how business has flown around Saban in the past few months... I think it does mean a lil something. I think a lil humor is a lot better than a large amount of insults anyday. Smile man... we are Americans able to enjoy sports and enjoy life and live in a nation where we can speak our mind. Why things in life have to be about control and manipulation in just the minute things in life really blow my mind. Thank God I was raised by people who encouraged me to use my creativity instead of raising me to be a robot and always go with what everyone else is doing which is what I believe people in this nation do too much of anyway. This goes along with sports as well... you ask why... well.. if you used your creative mind you would know why. If someone is a true sports fan and knows what makes a team successful or an organization successful, then this will happen. You are going to have a ton of people be Kobe, LeBron, or Tracy McGrady fans simply because they are the in thing and that is all they know is what is good and what is the in thing. Its people like me who see people like Steve Kerr or John Paxson (with the Dynasty Bulls teams) or people like Reggie Wayne, Rhodes, or Clark with the Colts who function in their roles and do those little things that make their teams great. People talk about Manning and how great he is... and I am not in disagreement. But I would be the first to bet huge money that one of the first remarks out of Peyton's mouth would be... if it weren't for Reggie Wayne, Clark and Rhodes... we wouldnt be where we are today. They make my job easy. In a world full of robotic minds... it is nice to know that there are still some creative ones out there who see what success in sports is all about. Whatever I teach my kids in the future about doing things in life, I am going to teach them right from wrong (I believe that is important), but I am going to teach them to think for themselves. Yes.. I'm going to teach them some great things.. but if I can't teach them to think for themselves out in life and teach them that only you know in your heart what is correct.. then I am going against everything I believe to be true. That from creativity comes genious. When your mind is stuck behind a Playstation, Nintendo or whatever... it is hard to get a lil creativity going. Go out, climb a mountain... use your brain a lil. You ask.. "climbing mountains spurs creativity?" It also inspires a lil heart and soul as well. You see a mountain in front of you. You either set it in your heart to go climb that sucker or you give up. That right there kind of gives you an idea of how much inner fortitude you are gonna have to begin with. Once you begin the climb though... you start to think... hmmmm ... which is the best path to take? Kind of like life. When faced with a mountain in life, the answers are not gonna be handed to you like they are for some Playstation game in a magazine. God I'm glad I grew up on a farm and got to roam the mountains and stuff. Kids today have no idea of what you learn about life just from living in that environment. I didn't have the best of everything... we were not that well off... but I gained a lot of riches in learning about what to do, how to do it and to never give up on something I believe in and that I know I can do. When Playstation games get to a certain level and you cant go no further.. it is the mindset of the kid to turn it off and go to another game. Life is one game....what you do with it is your decision.
Now how does it relate to sports? Check out our athletes today. Show me at least 20 hard, mentally tough, physically tough, well spoken, well disciplined, strong academic type athletes in say the LPD for instance... someone you would want in a foxhole with you in the toughest times... list them right here and I will show you how downhill things are around here in todays time. 20... or maybe even 10 years ago.. I could name you that many or more... times have changed.. and kids around here... while talented... are not as mentally or physically hard as they could be because they have not had to be. With all the new tech stuff surrounding them in this day and time... don't look for it to improve any either. That is just the day we live in. That is why we can only hope they get a really good education. Thank goodness we dont have to rely on sports to get us through life. Everyone would be failing the No Child Left Behind regulations for sure then.
